People with diabetes don’t realize how many different and incredibly tasty drinks they can consume. They think that most of the delicious drinks are off-limits. But, that is not true. There are plenty of drinks they can try. However, they have to swap some of the drinks with a healthier version. Furthermore, these healthy beverages are not disgusting. On the contrary, they are delicious and filled with nutrients. Here are some of the tastiest drinks people with diabetes should sip on.

1. Chai Latte

Who doesn’t love this creamy, sweet, fragrant, and spicy drink? While the typical coffee contains a staggering 33 gr of carbs, this coffee is much lighter. To prepare it, you will need a cup of unsweetened almond milk and two chai tea bags. Firstly, steep the tea bags in the milk and enjoy. If you want to spice things up, feel free to add black pepper and cinnamon. This drink only contains 1 gr of carbs. Amazing right? Well, this is a treat you can’t miss.

2. Hot Chocolate

The typical hot chocolates made with low-fat milk, contain 60 gr of carbs. Therefore, you should make your cup of hot chocolate and cut down the number of carbs by more than 50%. To prepare this amazing drink, you will need:
  • 1 cup of low-fat milk,
  • One teaspoon of vanilla,
  • Two squares of 70% dark chocolate,
  • Cinnamon.
Mix all these ingredients and melt them well in a saucepan. Lastly, enjoy this amazing drink that contains only 23 gr of carbs.

3. Sweet Tea

Sugar-free iced tea can be as satisfying as the typical tea, but healthier. Plus, you can make your sweet tea easily at home. To make this amazing tea, steep your favorite tea and add any no-calorie sugar substitute. It is a healthy and refreshing drink, so give it a try.

4. Chocolate Milk

Even though chocolate milk is a popular drink for children, it doesn’t mean that adults shouldn’t consume it. On the contrary, this milk is rich in calcium and is perfect for the bones. However, it is important to consume low-fat chocolate milk, not the regular one. Therefore, people with diabetes shouldn’t rely on ready-made brands since they contain tons of sugar. Instead, they should make their tasty chocolate milk. For this drink you will need:
  • Three teaspoons of cocoa powder,
  • Two tablespoons of zero-calorie sweetener,
  • 1% milk.
Mix these ingredients in a cup, and enjoy! Give this low-fat chocolate milk a try.

5. Fruit Smoothie

You have probably heard that consuming store-bought fruit smoothies is not a healthy choice, and that is true. These smoothies contain plenty of carbs and sugar. As a result, people with diabetes should stay away from them as much as possible. But, that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t consume fruit smoothies. On the contrary, they should make their own. Therefore, make a homemade smoothie with half a cup of strawberries, blueberries, and bananas. Add all the ingredients to a blender and mix well.

6. Caffè Mocha

This bittersweet coffee is a very popular drink and with good reason. However, the most common café mocha contains more than 300 grams of calories and a staggering 40gr of carbs. So, it is best to make your own. Brew this coffee with one tablespoon of cocoa powder, 1 cup of brewed coffee, two tablespoons of low-fat milk, and a pinch of any zero-calorie sugar substitute.

7. Orange Juice

Orange juice is another great drink for people with diabetes. However, consuming 100% natural orange juice is far better than drinking orange-flavored drinks. This way, you will get all the necessary fiber that your body needs. If you want to purchase orange juice, make sure to look for a brand that contains 15 calories and 3 gr carbs. This juice is a great source of vitamin C.

8. Ginger Ale

The best way to avoid all the carbs is to make your ginger ale. For it, you will need a glass of seltzer water and a full spoon of finely grated ginger. Mix the ingredients and add a zero-calorie sugar substitute. Enjoy!

10. Milk

Milk is a great source of potassium, calcium, magnesium, and vitamin D. These are all crucial components for healthy bones.  However, people with diabetes have to be careful about the type of milk they consume. Therefore, they should drink fat-free or low-fat milk. Furthermore, adding milk to a healthy diet can greatly lower blood pressure and help balance the body. Finally, people with diabetes don’t have to consume only water.
