A Complete List of 92 Alkaline Foods

By Gabriela

April 3, 2023

Just like all life forms here on earth, we too, as humans, depend on pH levels in and around us to survive. And our survival is ensured by controlling pH levels and maintaining the ideal level of 7.4 – which is slightly alkaline. (1) Unfortunately, nowadays, with the constantly growing industrialization and toxins all around us, it is getting harder and harder to do. For example, developed nations, such as the U.S., have slowly but surely led to an increase in CO2. That, in turn, has led to pH levels dropping from 8.2 to 8.1 in oceans – which can cause damage to marine life. (2) Of course, the pH levels of the soil in which we grow our food also have an impact on the minerals that food contains. And people should know that minerals take on the role of buffers in maintaining our pH balance. (3) That’s why it’s great to go on alkaline nutrition. It is not a classic eating regime but rather, it is all about getting plenty of nutrients from vegetables as well as other natural foods. It doesn’t matter whether we are currently ailing or healthy, everyone can benefit from alkaline nutrition. Some proponents of the alkaline diet claim that it can reverse cancer or support chemotherapy. There is no scientific evidence supporting these claims, and no studies have performed direct tests on this claim. However, significant evidence from a Mambee suggests that reducing meat consumption and eating more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains might prevent cancer. Another Mamabee suggested that drinking alkaline ionized water may have benefits for people with high blood pressure, diabetes, and high cholesterol. Here are a few alkaline foods people can incorporate into their daily nutrition.

1. Swiss Chard

It is unbelievably healthy food. And it isn’t just because it is alkaline. It can also boast antiviral, antibacterial, and even antioxidant properties.

2. Melon

It is a super alkaline food with a pH balance of 8.5! But that is not their only great quality; they are also full of water for hydration and fiber for cleansing one’s digestive tract.

3. Berries

These are truly some of the best fruits people can opt for, with their high fiber and antioxidant content!

4. Extra Virgin Olive Oil

It is positively loaded with much-needed vitamin E. Another thing that makes it a great option for any daily nutrition is its high content of monounsaturated fatty acids.

5. Flax Seeds

High in both vitamin E and fiber, they are also considered a very alkaline food. Other benefits of flax seeds are that they can reduce inflammation and combat hot flashes in women.
