Today, a lot of people have high blood sugar due to their unbalanced diet and over-consumption of sweet and high-carb foods. But, frequent blood sugar spikes can lead to prediabetes and type 2 diabetes.

The latter is a chronic condition which can cause many health complications, like kidney disease, heart disease, vision loss, amputations, etc.

The good news, however, is that you can help prevent it by controlling your blood sugar levels and weight.

In fact, sometimes you can have higher levels of blood sugar than normal and not be aware of it. That might be because of the hidden sugar in many foods, so you don’t know you’re eating high-sugar foods.

Still, diet is not the only risk factor for diabetes. Genetics play an important part in your risk for this chronic condition.
