Use Chicory Root to Stabilize Blood Sugar Levels

When it comes to people with type 2 diabetes there is an alarming rate, every 10 seconds there are 3 new cases.

In addition, what makes things worse is the fact that even children are part of these statistics and not only adults that are over 45 years old.

There are more causes for type 2 diabetes to develop such as lack of exercise, genetics, stress, bad communication between the cells, and a significant amount of sugar in your liver, and also obesity.

The insulin that your body makes is not enough or is unable to control the level of sugar from the bloodstream and that in turn leads to hyperglycemia or high levels of blood sugar.

Chicory Root and Its Connection to Type 2 Diabetes

According to scientific research, the chicory root can be used as a natural remedy to help in the prevention of diabetes. It is believed that the chicory root extract can help prevent or delay the premature start of diabetes (1).

Also that it can help slow the development or progression of complications that are linked to this particular disease. According to one survey in Japan, the extract that is from dried chicory root has insulin type fructans.

The fructans have antidyslipidemic and anti-hyperglycemia properties, and it also helps improve the intestinal transit. According to a different study made in Iran at the University of Medical Sciences Tehran, there are beneficial effects in terms of diabetes from the chicory root.

In fact, the test for glucose tolerance showed different results, that range from two hours of tolerance all the way to 28 days. (2)

Recipe for Chicory Remedy

  • Olive Oil – 2 tbsp.
  • Water- 500 ml
  • Fresh Chicory roots- 250 grams.

How to Prepare It

In a large pot put the chicory roots, but previously you need to wash them. In the pot put cold water and let it boil for around 10 minutes. Then take out the roots and place them on a paper towel.

The next thing you need to do is to chop them or blend them. Put them in a glass bowl and put olive oil. Mix this together until you the mixture looks like a paste. Remember that the paste needs to be smooth.

You can consume this during the entire day whenever you want. Consume it until you notice that you have stable blood sugar levels. You can continue until you consult your doctor and see that there is no need for drugs or insulin.

There are more ways to consume the chicory roots you can roast them to make a drink that is very similar to coffee or simply eat them as a vegetable. This plant has around 8 percent of insulin, anti-inflammatory agents, vitamins, cichorium, minerals, acetophenone, flavonoids, tannins, and sesquiterpene lactones.

In order for this remedy to be efficient, you need to maintain a healthy lifestyle that shall be based on healthy food and regular exercise.
